The Versatile blogger award

Thank you very much to Lisa from I will not stay silent who nominated me for the Versatile blogging award. I’m both proud and humbled at the same time!versatile-blogger-award.jpg

The rules are simple:

Rule #1 – You must thank the person that nominated you for the award and then provide a link to their blog site.
Rule #2 – Nominate at least 10 bloggers of your choice and provide links to their blogs.
Rule #3 – Share 7 facts about yourself.

I nominate the following (not listed in personal favorite order):

Following Him besides still waters

Woman for Jesus

Unashamed of Jesus

Laughter: Carbonated Grace

Unshakable hope

23 Thorns

You, me and this world

Shattered in Him

The Dove web

In the desert with Jesus

Here comes 7 facts about me… Though I truly can’t imagine why that would be interesting reading for anyone, but I like the number 7…

#1 – My first blog post Stress – first signs was posted on May 10th 2013. Almost 4 years ago. My blog is about my dance with Jesus – doing life with God and oftentimes wrestling with faith. I enjoy blogging because it allows me to open for subjects which could be closed issues, expand on ideas and thoughts and the best part is that people can choose to read – or not.

#2 – My side-blog Song of Virginity had it’s first post on June 18th 2016 and I’m sorely proud of that blog! It’s an outreach blog for the youth of today. It talks about ALL the issues of virginity and sex, the why not, if not, how not etc. I have had several beautiful posts from guest bloggers and I’m very proud of each and every one of them. It talks and deals openly with issues that, I have found, many wants to keep silent about. However, I’m a firm believer in open honesty and by sharing stories, we just might be able to help a young/single person make the right choices. Please jump over and have a look and don’t be afraid to drop me a line if you feel led to share your story.

#3 – My absolute favorite books and movies are generally historical. One of my favorite books “Desiree” is about a silk merchant’s daughter from Paris who has a friendship with general Napoleon, but ends up marrying the marshal Bernadotte, from the french army – who then gets adopted by the Swedish king and voila: Desiree becomes Queen of Sweden. It’s a work of fiction but historically interesting as the Swedish royal family name is Bernadotte.

#4 – I don’t do facebook. While I do have an account (all in Danish) it’s only to maintain contact to my family there. But truthfully, I don’t use it much and rarely check the newsfeed.

hmalexoftokyo
Her Majesty Queen Alex of Tokyo

#5 – My favorite food is… simple, easy and healthy meals. They don’t grow on trees but I find that “stonesoup.com” is a massive inspiration… and my daughter is sensitive to gluten so ingredients needs to be chosen carefully.

#6 – I love beautiful green gardens and balconies. But I suck at keeping it green…

#7 – I have 5 goldfish in two aquariums, a rabbit and my daughter has a hamster. Can’t help it; I just love pets!

Lovely Blog Award

one-lovely-blog-award-badge1.jpgI was nominated for this award by In the Desert with Jesus written by Joel who is simply one amazing guy! If you have read his blog you already know that though… 😉
I both proudly and humbly accept this award. Sounds confusing? I’m just very proud that Joel thinks my blog is worthy of an award and at the same time, I’m humbled that the Lord pointed to my blog through Joel…

I’m supposed to display the rules of this award, so here goes:

————————————————————————-
Thank the lovely person who nominated your blog and follow them. YES FOLLOW me… actually even better: Follow Jesus!

Display the award logo and add this set of rules to your post so that your nominees will know what to do (sounds sensible, right?)

Nominate 15 other lovely blogs listing them in your post and notifying them via a link in one of their blog posts (or as I chose – link to their blog while listing them).

List 7 interesting facts about yourself to the post (not really sure what would count as “interesting” but I’ll give it a go)

————————————————————————–

Okay… There are so many blogs out there and I read here and there and am “wow’ed” by the writing skills of all these great bloggers, so choosing just 15 is like picking out my favorite ice cream at cold stone creamery… almost impossible, but here goes:

These are my nominees:

Pastor Jim Bell’s jottings – Pastor Jim recently passed away and will be accepting the award while resting in the arms of Jesus. But I choose to nominate the blog anyway, because Jim had a lot to say about a lot of things and his blog lives on even though Jim isn’t with us anymore.

The lamb’s servant Sue lives in Jordan and her blog is like a journey into the ancient Hebrew scriptures. She captured my heart long ago… I hope she might capture yours too.

Julian for Jesus Julian stole my heart – in a sense – when he wrote a post for my sideblog “Song of Virginity”. His blog is just simply awesome and it’s ALL about Jesus!

Run the race Heather is an amazing writer who really gets the point across. Pay her a visit!

P356 – faith and life in action This is simply a lovely blog!

ThoughtCascade blog Simply unavoidable!

Rina Rose You just can’t help falling in love with this girl!

Jeffrey H King Explore the world of faith… go get it!

Cross of Christ From Tanzania… it simply doesn’t get more authentic than this!

Learning to be full of Grace and Truth A true and honest follower of our Lord Jesus.

Minus the cynic This is one of the bloggers I really want to invite over to Song of Virginity for a guest post… oops, guess the “secret” is out…

The Progressive Christian blog Sharp and opinionated with that lovely touch of good sensible Christian faith and respectful words – stay tuned and you’ll stay sharp too 😉

Eddaz Really – Never a dull moment here!

Francis and Anna Quite possibly the cutest couple ever!

7 Interesting facts about me:

I love blogging because it’s my opportunity to share the love I own from Jesus. He’s mine and I’m His and nothing will ever change that.

Those incredibly popular “adult coloring books” which are supposedly therapeutic and relaxing? They drive me nuts!! I tossed them… they stress me out.

Stress has been a part of my life since childhood, though I only began realizing that a few years back. The struggles with mental health has been a constant companion and at times I take a serious dive bordering depression. But my help comes from the Lord and though the evil one in this world can hold me down, I know he can’t keep me there when I cry out to Jesus. Albeit, it can take a while for me to find my voice inside.

I used to be a DJ – a disc-jockey on the local radio station – back in the days when vinyl and record players were in existence. Today they might be known as “antiques”… It was a hilariously fun time of my life and though it’s all in the past (including the vinyl!), I still have a huge love for music and dance.

I’m a painter. I never took a painting class or art class apart from my elementary school years. I paint for His glory alone and I love to paint symbols of God’s love for His people. I’m currently working on a big “sofa piece” which has taken me 2 years – give or take – so far, but is finally coming together.

I’m definitely an entrepreneur. I’m good at starting things up and getting them going… My side blog Song of Virginity is a good example of that. I share my past experiences which surely aren’t always pretty and I’m always on the lookout for those willing to share about the subject of virginity, sex and life as a single Christian, in the hope of reaching the younger generations. And that was how I met Joel who wrote this incredible post The pursuit on Song of Virginity!

de699bb7c71821400dad451ca49ad012.jpgGrowing up my family always went to the north for vacation times. So even though I live in Japan, my heart holds the mountains of Norway, the forests of Sweden and the fields of Denmark very very dear. I miss the climate immensely, especially during the Japanese hot summer and humid fall seasons. However, we have IKEA over here and that takes most of the sting out ;-)… and of course Yokohama harbor area is my go-to place when I get homesick. It’s not too different from Copenhagen harbor.

Liebster Blog Award

liebster-award

Thanks so much to my fellow blogger jennifer deg for nominating me for the Liebster Award! What an honor! I’m surprised to receive this award and very happy – thank you Jennifer for noticing my blog and thinking it’s worth it!

Just in case and before I get to the questions and my nominees:
For those who don’t know what this award is, here are a few facts about it according to wordingwell.com:

  • This award exists only on the internet, and is given to bloggers by other bloggers.
  • It has German origins – the word “liebster” has several definitions: dearest, sweetest, kindest, nicest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, welcome, sweetheart and boyfriend (really?)
  • It follows similar principles as a chain letter, in the sense that it should be passed forward to a certain number of people.
  • It can be misconstrued, depending upon your personal views, as either something wonderful (who doesn’t like awards?) or as an annoyance (a chain letter that involves work).

For those of you who don’t know, here are the rules of this honor.

  1. Mention the person who nominated you on your blog and link them.
  2. Answer 11 questions by the person who nominated you.
  3. Nominate 5-11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers and link them below.
  4. Create your own 11 questions for them to answer and let the nominees know that they’ve been nominated.

Okay here are her questions.

1. What is your favorite season and why?
My favorite season is undoubtedly spring time. Everything is new, it’s the season of what we call Easter, a time to ponder and rediscover the meaning of faith, love and life. I love the new flowers and the days gradually getting longer. Here in Tokyo we can enjoy a warming weather without the high humidity and we have beautiful cherry blossoms and plum blossoms in spring and in my birth country I have many special memories from walks in the forest, seeing the new tiny small flowers sprouting and blooming beneath the trees.

2. What advice would you give new bloggers?
Write what you are passionate about. Write because you love to write, not to gain followers. Write because you have something on your heart that perhaps others can benefit from. Just keep writing.

3. How much time per week do you spend on your blog?
That is something which greatly varies! Some weeks I barely look at it. Other weeks, like this one, I spend quite a few hours on it. Compiled I’m sure it would amount to a full day.

4. What was your favorite childhood toy?
For the life of me I can’t remember!
I enjoyed creating doll-houses for Barbie I think, using stones from the garden, wooden blocks, paper etc. We weren’t exactly rich, so buying Barbie stuff was a huge no-go. I had 2 dolls and they were presents from my uncle I think. I also loved the Smurfs. Still have the collection and my daughter had a passing flirt with them, but they got back in the box pretty fast.

5. How has your faith helped you through difficult times?
Jesus has helped me through so much. How He did it has been as different as the difficult times I have/am facing. I think to know the “How”, you probably need to read my blog.

6. You can have a half-hour conversation with any fictional character. Who do you choose? Why?
That would be Queen Elsa of Arrendale. Because she had so much fear and tried to run away from it, yet she learned to love… I identify a great deal with her. I would also just love to watch the sunrise with her from her ice castle…

7. What is your favorite book?
I suppose the Bible doesn’t count for this question, but apart from the Holy Scriptures, I do enjoy humoristic books and Patsy Clairmont can have me in tears of laughter in about 5 seconds. Another favorite is Beth Moore’s “Jesus the one and only” and Lysa TerKeurst “Unglued”.

8. What do you love most about blogging?
Sharing how the Lord works in my life. Sometimes shouting from the rooftops, or in the desert, simply isn’t enough…

9. What one post on your blog are you most proud of?
I’m not sure I can say that I am particularly proud of my posts, but the one I most often think of is “A poem – Look”

10. What three words would you use to describe your self?
I’m a Jesus girl. A deep thinker. Oftentimes very impatient.

11. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? Why?
Would that rule out the Trans-Siberian railway? or a cruise around the world?
If I had to choose one particular country I would be in trouble! Hawaii, Norway and Iceland are all on the top of my list. I have visited Norway many times in my childhood and as a young person, but time flies… Norway is possibly the most beautiful country God created and I have been told Iceland is right up there on the same scale. Hawaii I would love to visit because I love Hawaiian foods…

And I hereby nominate (and I’m not entirely sure they have less than 200 followers, but here goes):

1.  Hands in the air

2. Livet leves i dag (Norwegian)

3. Lambs servant

4. Pastor Jim Bell’s jottings

5. Lisa Mari (Norwegian)

6. Iceland, I am

And my questions to you:

1. Who are you?

2. What do you like to do the most?

3. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

4. What are your plans for 2015?
